The successful pixel art city building game Gourdlets finally has a release date and is coming to PC next week – August 15th to be precise.
Gourdlets is truly one of the cutest city-building games I’ve ever seen, and its concept is even sweeter. Developed by indie developer Preethi Vaidyanathan – aka AuntyGames – the game is designed to be completely “stress-free,” with “no goals, no points, just good vibes.”
While you’re tasked with creating a city for an ever-growing population of blob-like vegetable friends (the titular pumpkins), your citizens are incredibly laid-back and “happy no matter what.” This gives you complete creative freedom to design the city however you want – you can focus on aesthetics, make something cool, or just play around with the tools without fear of the little guys yelling at you for one reason or another.
BIG NEWS! Gourdlets is coming out August 15th! 🥳I’m so excited to share my little city building game with you all so soon! Thank you all for your support 💖Add to your wishlist and get notified when Gourdlets is out!🔗 https://t.co/5yGIMSpXB7 pic.twitter.com/eiuIQXhl9H1 August 2024
It really does sound like a creative gamer’s dream, as seemingly everything is customizable. You can make the island you build on as big or small as you like, beautify the outside with buildings and any decorations you want, and tweak the inside of the buildings too. You can even add some style to the pumpkins themselves with accessories and hats, so they look extra cute living in the spaces you create – you can even watch them fishing and camping.
If that sounds as great to you as it does to me, then we have good news for you: you don’t have to wait long, as Gourdlets is less than a week away from being released on Steam. In the meantime, you can also try out the free Steam demo to get a taste of what’s in store.
