These 4 Massachusetts cities made the list of “most popular zip codes” for 2024

SALEM – Massachusetts is home to four of the hottest real estate markets in the country this year, according to a new ranking.

In fact, three of the state’s cities are in the top 10 of Realtor.com’s list of “Hottest ZIP Codes of 2024.”

Salem is in third place on the heatmap, only the first-placed places Gahanna (Ohio) and Ballwin (Missouri) are better. Leominster is seventh, Westfield is eighth and Attleboro is 13.

What constitutes a “Hot ZIP”?

Realtor.com says it determines its rankings of the most popular zip codes based on the number of views a property gets on its website and how long it’s been listed. The highest-rated markets have listings with lots of views that sell quickly.

“Zip codes in Boston and nearby metropolitan areas of Worcester and Springfield underscore the popularity of commuter markets near the northeast hub,” says Realtor.com.

The hottest zip codes in Massachusetts

Salem, known worldwide for its famous Halloween celebrationshad a median asking price of $596,000. According to Realtor.com, homes there typically stay on the market for just 16 days.

Prices drop in popular zip codes further west. The median asking price in Leominster is $462,000 and in Westfield is $347,000. In Attleboro, the median is $516,000.

According to a recent report from the Warren Group, median home sales prices across Massachusetts reached a new high of $650,000 in July.
