Theater in Otsego County, New York announces epic fall film festival

The Wieting Theatre in Worcester, New York, has done it again! Today it announced its fall film festival. As in years past, it’s packed with modern classics, anniversaries, and films that deserve a second look on the big screen.

Godzilla Minus One was a worldwide phenomenon in 2023, earning praise for its visual effects, which earned it an Oscar. Labyrinth, from 1986, is a perennial favorite among fans, can be watched again and again, and shines on the big screen.

This year’s 40th anniversary is the ultimate trigger for Generation X: The Neverending Story. The swamp scene will always be hard to stomach. Billed as a rock’n’roll fable, Streets of Fire is a neo-noir action thriller from Walter Hill that also celebrates its 40th anniversary. With its visual effects and music, this film is tailor-made for a small cinema.

The zom-com “Shaun of the Dead” celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and never gets old. It is incredibly quotable and simply fun to watch in the cinema. “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, the blueprint for pretty much everything that came after it, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and is being shown in high quality 4K picture and sound. This is a repeat of last year’s screening.
