Ashton plays Lord Stan Dudley in My Lady Jane, which currently has 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. And although Stan seems a bit of a jerk at first, he quickly becomes a lovable hero. Stan is probably one of the most popular characters from Prime Video’s romance series, and Ashton’s performance is largely responsible for that. It’s odd to see Ashton in the role of the villain right after that, because Max Hastings is far from his My Lady Jane character. Ashton’s next TV character will be Daeron Targaryen in HBO’s game of Thrones spin off A knight of the Seven Kingdoms. This role will likely make the actor even more famous and allow him to explore the middle ground between Stan Dudley and Max Hastings. In George RR Martin’s original, Daeron is described as a drunkard with some notable Targaryen gifts. He’s not a villain, but he’s not exactly a fan favorite character either. Needless to say, the show will see another big jump for Ashton after A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.
