The ultimate BookTube reading list

The ultimate BookTube reading list

Sometimes you need to find someone who enjoys the latest beach read as much as you do. Other times you’re looking for a reading recommendation from someone with the same taste. Whatever the case may be, the BookTube community makes it easy to find a like-minded book lover.

For over a decade, readers have come to YouTube to participate in the BookTube community, a collaborative group of passionate literary creators who love nothing more than to discuss and analyze the latest hardcover books. From the community’s foundations in young adult literature (The Fault in Our Stars, anyone?) to their love of crime fiction, BookTube’s creators have explored a seemingly limitless range of genres, voices, and trends. Silent reviews, reading sprints, hauls, and bookshelf tours are just a small sampling of the ways the community has expanded the definition of a book club online. In the first six months of 2024, there were more than 350 million views of videos with “BookTube” in the title on YouTube.1

In recognition of the many Reading recommendations that the creators of BookTube have made over the years, today, at the start of the Edinburgh International Book Festival, we’re using them to celebrate the community. Head to YouTube and you’ll find a special, animated version of the YouTube logo (known as a Yoodle).
