Season 15, Episode 9 of the Terrible Podcast is now complete. In this Monday episode, recorded late Sunday night, Alex Kozora and I are about to recap the various transactions the Pittsburgh Steelers have made since our last full broadcast. We talk about the sudden retirement of OLB Markus Golden and what that means for the roster. There are a lot of transactions to recap, so let’s go through them all as quickly as possible.
With the Steelers’ first preseason game now behind us, Alex and I discuss the team’s health heading into Monday. We talk about the knee sprain suffered by rookie OT Troy Fautanu in the preseason opener and what that might mean for his chances of being a starter in the regular season opener. We’ll make sure to go over all the injuries in this segment of the show.
The Steelers lost their season opener to the Houston Texans on Friday night. Now that we’ve done some homework on the footage, Alex and I are going to recap everything that happened in the game.
We’ll start by going over the play of quarterbacks Justin Fields and Kyle Allen. Then we’ll break down the offense’s mistakes, good plays, formations, new OC Arthur Smith’s plays, and more. We’ll try to go over all of the offense’s position groups and make sure to dedicate extra time to the rookies’ play.
Alex and I flip the page to recap the Steelers defense’s play Friday night and see who stood out on that side of the football. We go through each position group and highlight big plays and some bad ones.
Although the special teams aspect of Friday night’s game wasn’t as exciting, we analyzed that phase of the game. Later in this show, we’ll also discuss several snap count totals from Friday night’s game.
Will California state income tax laws play a role in contract negotiations between San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and the team? How important are state income taxes in contract negotiations and decision making? We’ll address this topic later in this show, as we received an email from a reader asking us to go down this particular rabbit hole.
This 96-minute episode also discusses several other smaller topics not mentioned here and concludes by answering some emails we’ve recently received from listeners.
