The rumors and the truth about ex Kelly

The rumors and the truth about ex Kelly

Zac Brown’s divorce was chaotic – and it’s getting worse.

The country singer and his now estranged wife Kelly Yazdi announced their separation in December 2023 after just four months of marriage.

Now it sounds like the divorce will take longer than the marriage, as Zac has filed for a restraining order against his ex, who in turn wants to jeopardize their short-lived marriage.

And she has to say, it is shocking

Let’s dive in.

How it all began

Like most celebrity love stories, Zac and Kelly began their relationship in secret.

In fact, they kept it so secret that no one knows exactly when they started dating.

So it was quite a shock when Zac proposed to Kelly during a trip to Hawaii in 2022.

They were engaged for a year before marrying in a private ceremony in Georgia in August 2023.

But the marriage did not survive the new year. In December, the two separated – news that shocked Zac’s fans, but apparently also his new bride.

Zac Brown’s divorce: what happened?

“We are in the process of getting a divorce. Our mutual respect remains,” the couple said in a statement. TMZ on December 29, 2023.

This “mutual respect” meant that Zac and Kelly were in no hurry to share why the marriage wasn’t working. In the joint statement, they simply assured that the separation was amicable.

“We wish each other the best and will always cherish our time together. As we need to address this personal matter, we simply ask for privacy during this time.”

And they had privacy—until they didn’t. If you ask Zac, Kelly was the first to make their divorce a contentious issue, even though it didn’t need to be.

If you ask Kelly, you’ll hear a completely different story.

Zac Brown files suit and seeks temporary restraining order during divorce

On May 17, 2024, Zac filed a lawsuit against his estranged wife, demanding that she delete an Instagram post.

At the time, it seemed strange to her because Kelly had only posted a cheesy poem.

However, the Zac Brown Band frontman stated that her post violated a confidentiality agreement she signed during their relationship.

To make matters worse, in court documents obtained by NBC News, Zac requested a temporary restraining order forcing her to delete the social media post.

He ultimately lost his case and Kelly now had the opportunity to share her side of the story on Instagram.

And it doesn’t paint Zac in a good light.

Shortly after the proverbial muzzle was removed, Kelly began sharing her truth on Instagram

According to her statements, the problems that made the path to a quick divorce difficult initially seemed to have something to do with the “business” of the Zac Brown Band.

She responded to Zac’s complaint with a long social media message, writing:

“No one – not even Zac Brown with all his money, power, fame and lawyers – can take away my right to freely express myself through art or – although I have so far declined to do so publicly – to speak about the circumstances of our impending divorce.”

Her post, which she wrote on Instagram on May 20, 2024, continued:

“I intend to respond quickly and forcefully to his baseless complaint that the posting of two poems on my personal social media account revealed any ‘confidential information’ about his business, let alone empower a court to prohibit me from discussing matters of my personal life unrelated to my brief prior work for the Zac Brown Collective, Inc.”

And that’s when things took a turn.

Kelly Yazdi defends her reputation in light of divorce allegations against Zac Brown

On August 8, 2024, Kelly returned to her Instagram to post a long video explaining why people hadn’t heard from her in a while.

“As you may know, Zach and I are going through a divorce and it has been a very painful experience for me,” she began, ready to tell the full story behind her divorce in detail for the first time.

After being “happily together for years,” they actually got married in August 2023, she explains, but then helped with a “private wedding reception in Nashville” in November.

Then the bomb.

“Nine days after our wedding ceremony, Zac unexpectedly told me over Zoom that he wanted a divorce.”

According to Kelly, as soon as she filed for divorce, he asked her to sign a nondisclosure agreement that would “prohibit her from talking about my life or my relationship with Zach for the rest of my life.”

She refused and was reportedly fired from her position as executive vice president of his company a few weeks later.

But that’s just the beginning of Kelly’s chaotic story.

Music video for “Beautiful Drug” by Zac Brown

As if all of that wasn’t bad enough, Kelly makes perhaps the most serious accusation yet against her ex.

“At that point, he used our wedding video with alterations and without my consent for commercial gain and to compromise my integrity,” Kelly claims, referring to the video “Beautiful Drug featuring Avicii Remix.”

“The music video includes the video of our private wedding reception which took place in Nashville on November 18, 2023, but I was replaced in the video with a model lookalike who is portrayed as a reckless and irresponsible person who uses drugs and alcohol and engages in very risky behavior,” Kelly said.

“And without judging the problems and choices of some people, the picture I painted does not match my personality and the video portrayed me in a completely wrong light.”

Needless to say, the alleged decision to use this wedding video – which Zac and his team deny – is the reason Kelly continues to speak so vehemently about her divorce.

“I never wanted my divorce to be public,” Kelly confessed. “I understand that the public is interested in celebrities’ relationships, and that’s just part of what comes with marrying a celebrity. I understood that when I married Zach, but the end of a relationship, especially when there’s a huge power imbalance between an ordinary, normal person and the celebrity with a big platform and enormous resources, is hard enough without the opportunity to tell the truth.”

Zac has not yet commented specifically on Kelly’s new allegations.
