The Red Sox playoff prediction percentage has halved since the All-Star break

According to Chris Cotillo, the Boston Red Sox’s playoff chances are now half what they were before the All-Star break. At the break, they had a 52.4% chance of making the playoffs. Now, their chance is 28.6%.

The Sox have a 12-16 record since the All-Star break, and that’s largely because the pitchers have been blowing games in the late stages. The starters usually have a good game, but then the bullpen comes in and the Sox lose their lead or the game goes from a thrilling game to a total rout.

The Sox have 37 games left this season and have a 65-58 record. They are only 3.5 games out of the final wild card spot, so if they win a few of these upcoming series, they can definitely get back in the race.

The Sox continue their fight for the playoffs tonight with their second game against the Houston Astros, and will even the series at 8:10 p.m. EST.
