FC Barcelona have had quite an impressive pre-season, winning against Manchester City and Real Madrid on their US tour. Several players made their mark in these games, with striker Pau Victor standing out in particular with his goals and overall play.

Several other players also took the opportunity to gain renown in Flick’s eyes, including midfielder Pablo Torre, who returned to the Catalan team after a rather disappointing season on loan at Girona.

That lackluster loan spell made it seem unlikely that he would remain in Flick’s squad next season, but according to SPORT, his pre-season performances have nonetheless left a pleasant impression on the new Barcelona coach. The German tactician was particularly impressed by Torres’ quality and vision in the final third.

Despite this good preseason, it will not be easy for the young player to get a lot of playing time at Barcelona. The Blaugranes already have more than the attacking midfielders they need in their ranks and there is already a lot of competition for the starting eleven behind Robert Lewandowski.

Flick has made it clear that he wants to have a large squad for the coming season, but that Torre needs regular playing time for his further development, which cannot be guaranteed at Barcelona.

Blaugrana’s sporting department is also aware of this situation and does not want to relegate the midfielder to the bench. Therefore, Deco and his team will see if he gets playing time in the matches against Valencia and Athletic Club. If he does not play much against these opponents, the Portuguese official will propose to loan Torre out again.
