Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears clashed on social media after both the Grammy winner and her younger sister spoke out about the singer’s 13-year conservatorship, which ended in 2021.

Britney Spears has long been critical of her family’s role as guardian and said during her explosive hearing in June 2021 that she wanted to take legal action against her family.

“I just want my life back. It’s been 13 years and enough is enough. It’s been a long time since I had my money,” Spears said at the time. “To be completely honest, I would love to sue my family. I also want to share my story with the world and what they did to me instead of keeping it a top secret that everyone benefits from.”

In an interview with “Good Morning America” in January 2022, Jamie Lynn said, “I love my sister. I’ve always just loved her and supported her and done the right thing for her, and she knows that. So I don’t know why we’re in this position now.”

But in her memoir, “Things I Should Have Said,” published in 2022, the actress wrote about her childhood and the arguments she had with the “Toxic” singer, including a time when her sister locked them both in a room while Britney held a knife and said she was “scared,” the New York Post reported.

Britney denied that the incident ever took place, writing on X: “I have never been near you with a knife and would never think to do something like that!!!”

Us Weekly reported that Britney’s lawyer later said in a cease and desist letter to Jamie Lynn, “Although Britney has not read your book and has no plans to read it, she and millions of her fans were shocked to see how you exploited her for financial gain. She will not tolerate it, and she should not.”

Britney claimed in a now-deleted Instagram post that her childhood was completely different from her younger sister’s and that Jamie Lynn was no longer there for her after her public split from Justin Timberlake, calling her a “selfish little brat.”

However, Britney later wrote kinder words for her sister in her 2023 memoir, The Woman In Me: She will always be my sister and I love her and her wonderful family.”

She added: “I’m working on feeling more compassion than anger towards her, and towards everyone I feel has wronged me. It’s not easy.”
