The heat continues and there is a chance of rain again

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) – Temperatures remained steady around 90 degrees on Wednesday and will continue for the rest of the week, with rain chances increasing during the second half of the work week.

Headlines:

• Heat, heat and more heat

• The probability of rain and thunderstorms increases

• Here comes the relief

DISCUSSION:

The heat continued today, with highs in the 35s. Some places, especially in the Louisa area, reached temperatures in the 35s, nearly 38s. The bad news is that the heat will continue Thursday and Friday. Humidity will rise ahead of a cold front that will move through the weekend.

The good news is that once the front moves through Eastern Kentucky, temperatures will drop again, with highs in the 30s on Saturday, mid-25s on Sunday, and high to low 27s on Monday and Tuesday.

REGARDING RAINFALL

Rain chances increase on Thursday and then continue to increase as we get closer to Friday and the weekend. Right now, all eyes are on the Pike County Bowl, which the First AlertWeather team will be closely monitoring and reviewing the forecast.

Enjoy your evening!
