The grand opening of Good Brothers Seafood gives hope for future development in Moss Point

The city of Moss Point is in a difficult financial situation after the loss of economic development and a tornado, but officials can finally breathe a sigh of relief and welcome new local businesses back to town.

“I’ve been pushing economic development since I’ve been here because we need more money for the city,” said Mayor Billy Knight. “When we see businesses like this, it just proves that we need to do this. We want people to see that we’re on the right track. We’re trying to revitalize downtown and the old business district in Moss Point. This is just another good example of that.”

Edward Good, longtime Moss Point resident and owner of Good Brother Seafood, had already found success in Gulfport but gave up his career and came home to share the wealth with his community.

“We’re going to turn this whole parking lot into something where people can shop and, more importantly, make a living because we’re turning it into a flea market and a food court where other merchants can use this safe space to do business,” Good said.

After a streak of bad luck, the city needed something positive – and that comes in the form of a chef who wants to help others succeed.

“It’s a great feeling to be an asset to this community. To be someone who can be an employer, who can be where success happens. That’s our goal,” Good said. “Money is something people earn every day, but being a path out of poverty and into stability for every family is the ultimate goal of Good Bros Seafood.”

Good Brothers Seafood is open Thursday through Sunday from 12pm to 7pm.
