The woman who reportedly served as the inspiration for the character “Martha” in the Netflix series “Baby Reindeer” was interviewed by Piers Morgan in a special broadcast for the show “Uncensored”.
The 60-minute episode aired on Thursday, May 5, at 8 p.m. on the broadcaster’s YouTube channel, which has 2.58 million subscribers.
Based on a true story, Netflix original series Baby Reindeer follows comedian and actor Richard Gadd’s experiences with a stalker in his 20s – called Martha in the series – and how the trauma affected his life. Now, the person accused by internet sleuths of being the “real” Martha has spoken out, facing off with interviewer Piers in a TV confrontation game.
The woman, whose name is not being disclosed here, recorded her first “major television interview” with the controversial broadcaster earlier this week in which she hoped to “set the record straight.”

“I will not watch Baby Reindeer”
Piers’ interviewee was asked numerous questions about the show, for which she was allegedly the inspiration for the character “Martha”. However, when asked if she had seen the Netflix series, she replied: “I haven’t seen any of it. I think I would be sick. It has taken up enough of my life.”
She continued: “I find it quite obscene. I had a horrific, misogynistic experience.”
Death threats
The woman on the show was “unmasked” by internet sleuths who, after researching social media, dubbed her the “real Martha.” The woman then revealed that she had received several death threats following the broadcast of Baby Reindeer.
She said: “Some of the death threats online were really horrific. People were calling me. You know, it was absolutely horrific. I wouldn’t believe something like that.”
“And it’s not really my kind of drama.”
Reject stalker allegations
In the final scenes of Baby Reindeer, the character Martha is sentenced to nine months in prison for stalking Richard’s character Donny. When Piers asked his interviewee if she had ever been in prison, she replied: “That is completely untrue and very, very defamatory to me. Very career damaging and I wanted to completely disprove that on this show. I’m not a stalker, I haven’t been in prison – that’s complete nonsense.”
“If you are charged with a crime, everything goes well, the fine is higher, very few people go to prison these days.”
Details about the baby reindeer
Over the course of the interview, the “real” Martha has disputed the show’s “facts.” The first was the cup of tea Martha accepts from Richard’s character Donny in the Baby Reindeer series – instead, she said, “I wanted something to eat, a glass of lemonade, and I was very, very hungry. I’m diabetic, so I’m very hungry.”
The next thing she says is untrue is the amount of correspondence she had with Richard. On the show, Martha sent 41,000 emails, 350 hours of voice messages, 744 tweets, 48 Facebook messages and 106 pages of letters. However, when Piers calls her out on this, she replies: “Well, none of that is true. I don’t think I sent him anything… No, I think we may have exchanged a few emails, but that was it.”
In the show, Martha destroys the bar, which the interviewee also denies. She said: “My character appears to have destroyed a bar, sexually assaulted him in a canal, been in prison. There are a number of other allegations, and… that’s not true.”
