Our guest today is Jennifer Shirk, award-winning and USA Today bestselling author of sweet and funny romance novels.

Jennifer’s latest work, Resorting to Romance, was released on July 2. Although she has now written a dozen novels, the South Jersey author actually earned her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy and was considering pursuing her doctorate before turning to fiction.

In this episode, Jennifer talks about the authors who inspired her to make this sharp turn in her career, and how her seaside town provided plenty of material for the fictional setting of her latest book.

Resorting to Romance follows Los Angeles attorney Loni Wingate, whose perfect day at the office is ruined by chaos and heartbreak. Her fiancé stole her promotion and called off their engagement, leaving her career and future hanging by a thread. Then, when Loni tries to return to her safe place, her family’s picturesque North Carolina resort, she discovers that it’s for sale.

Jennifer also has good news for readers who fall in love with these characters: she is working on a sequel that focuses on Loni’s sister.
