The American Dragon lives on; Bryan Danielson wins the AEW World Championship

History was made tonight at Wembley Stadium when Bryan Danielson won the AEW World Championship.

The plan was to fight for title versus career. Bryan Danielson shocked the world with his championship title by Swerve Strickland, who gave up until the LeBell Lock was applied. When the match was over, the BCC and Danielson’s family came together to celebrate the title win.

A distraction from Adam Page late in the match also significantly affected Strickland’s concentration as The American Dragon capitalized on the momentum. Danielson is currently working without a contract and is expected to retire this year, so fans can look forward to a tournament for Danielson’s championship.

Danielson went into the match, which was considered his farewell match, with “The Final Countdown” as the theme song and later witnessed the London crowd go wild and sing the 1986 classic to celebrate the legend’s first title win at the Jacksonville-based promoter.

His Blackpool Combat Club teammates won the Trios title alongside Pac earlier in the evening and came to the ring to share in Danielson’s joy. Danielson’s legacy will now live on as he narrowly avoided elimination tonight.

However, there is still no update on the future of the newly crowned champion, although Fightful Select recently released an important update.

Latest update on Bryan Danielson’s future

Despite his title win, Danielson is expected to have neck surgery later this year and will take a break. A recent update from Fightful Select gave some insight into Bryan Danielson’s future. He is expected to continue working for Tony Khan’s promotion and contribute to its success.

Fans can now honor the legacy of the American Dragon and find out what awaits the new champion on the next episode of Dynamite.

In other news, former WWE Superstar Ricochet made his AEW debut at All In.
