“That was the first step for me”

Machine Gun Kelly recently celebrated his one-year sobriety and reflected on those who helped him reach this milestone. One of those people was his 15-year-old daughter Casie.

MGK, who claims that alcohol and drug addiction are a curse passed down through generations from his late father, spoke about his daughter’s revelation in the latest episode of the podcast. Game worth millions of dollars.

In the 13th minute of the following video, the Cleveland native talks about his attempt to get sober after speaking to Casie, whom MGK has with his former partner Emma Cannon.

“It started with my daughter saying, ‘Daddy, you know I can tell when you’re high?’ That broke my heart,” MGK told hosts Gillie Da Kid and Wallo. “It was the ultimate disappointment.”

He added that the conversation took place when Casie was 11 or 12 years old.

“It took a while after that because drugs obviously have a way of pulling you in,” MGK continued. “Plus, bro, I grew up in a house where I was taught to be someone else. By fifth or sixth grade, you start to be ashamed of who you are because you’re not what your dad wants you to be. And that’s really just a reflection of him not being what he wanted to be.”

MGK shared that he is a “volleyball dad” who supports his daughter and explained why he took abstinence seriously at the 16:30 mark. “That was the first step for me. As a father and as a man, I have to break this generational curse for my child to be the father I would have wanted my father to be.”

He has now been sober for a year, which he announced in the podcast earlier this month Stupid blondeMGK recently celebrated his daughter’s 15th birthday with a photo carousel, honoring the time he has spent with her over the years.
