Boerne Little League has a spot in the championship game of the Little League Baseball World Series at stake when it faces Lake Mary Little League again on Saturday.

The Texas team beat the Florida team on Monday to land in the losers bracket. The Southeastern representatives returned to the U.S. finals by defeating the Metro, West and then the Mountain teams in three days to earn the right to a rematch.

Boerne, on the other hand, will have his best pitcher on board for Florida. Julian Hurst, who served as Boerne’s catcher in Texas’ 5-2 win over Nevada on Wednesday, pitched a complete game in Boerne’s 4-1 win over Lake Mary. He has about 20 strikeouts so far in the tournament and has a chance to lead a Texas team to its first U.S. title since 2017.

Texas vs. Florida in the LLWS 2024: Score updates, highlights on Saturday

3:00 p.m.: Boerne’s top hitter Julian Hurst steps onto the mound and walks Lake Mary’s leadoff hitter Chase Anderson to start the game. The next batter hits a slow one-hopper to Hurst, which allows shortstop Jett Matthews to make a double play. A flyout to center field ends the inning.

15:22: JJ Feliciano takes his turn to take the mound, and Hurst is first to go for Texas. In the battle of the aces, Hurst jumps on a 2-2 pitch and hits a single to center field. A wild pitch allows Hurst to reach second base. Feliciano strikes out Gray Collins, but lets Cooper Hastings walk. Another pitch sneaks past Florida’s catcher, putting runners on second and third base. Feliciano strikes out Doc Mogford and Kole Newson, ending the inning, but the ace from Lake Mary has already thrown 30 pitches.

15:26: Hurst starts the second inning with two quick groundouts. His first strikeout quickly puts Lake Mary back on the defensive. Hurst only managed 21 pitches in two innings.

15:40: A much better start to the inning for Feliciano, with three straight heaters that get Caden Guffey to strikeout. Jett Matthews hits a grounder into the weak spot of the defense for a single. A passed ball allows Matthews to get to second base. Aiden Muñoz gets a walk as Feliciano is already halfway through his 85-pitch limit. Next, he walks Gage Steubing to load the bases. A wild pitch gives Texas its first run of the day and Boerne extends the lead with a ground out by Kaleb Christ. Feliciano gets a strikeout and ends the inning after 57 pitches.

15:49: Hurst continues to mow down batters as he begins the round with a three-pitch punchout. He follows up with his third and fourth Ks of the day. Boerne’s ace is hitless for three innings.

16:05: Ben Burkhart strikes out on offense to start Texas’ inning. Hurst returns to the top of the batting order and gets his second hit of the day, a single to left. Feliciano walks Collins, putting runners on first and second base. Hastings pitches weakly and gets a shallow pop out. With two outs, Mogford hits a two-run double to left that’s just out of the outfielder’s reach. Feliciano throws his 84th pitch of the day and gets a third strike, ending the inning.

16:20: Matthews’ throw to first off an infield hit is barely too late to give Florida its first hit of the day. Hurst throws a wild pitch that allows the runner to advance to second. The pitcher gets back on track with another strikeout, but Lake Mary gets a single to put runners on the corners. A single to center gives Florida its first run and things get exciting. Hurst calms things down with a strikeout. Guffey then throws out Landon Bono on a dropped third strike that went to the backstop.
