Texas vs. Arkansas – Week 12 Opponent Preview: Game Predictions

Texas vs. Arkansas – Week 12 Opponent Preview: Game Predictions

In their penultimate road game of the regular season, the Texas Longhorns travel to Fayetteville to face the SEC stalwart Arkansas Razorbacks. The two have met a few times, with the last meeting coming in the first year of the Steve Sarkisian era when the Hogs shocked the Longhorns 40-21 on the road.

But since then, Texas has settled in under Sarkisian, while Arkansas has struggled to get out of an offensive slump under head coach Sam Pittman. Analysts project the Longhorns to be the toughest opponent on the Hogs’ schedule, with Texas the favorite over a team that finished last in the SEC standings last season. An obvious pick or not, our staff has weighed in on how this game will play out and who will come out on top.

This could be the toughest away test of the season so far for the Horns and Arkansas fans.hateTexas. Sam Pittman has beaten the Horns once before in Fayetteville, in Sarkisian’s first year. The Horns, who were in this game, will remember that and take care to eliminate the home threat early.

The Longhorns return to Fayetteville for the first time since their embarrassing 2021 loss looking for revenge. The hostile crowd will try to rekindle an old rivalry, but the talent in Arkansas is far inferior to that of Texas. With question marks on the offensive line, quarterback and coaching staff, the Longhorns should win this game. But given the hostile environment, I think it will be close.

Texas: 24

Arkansas: 17

Arkansas didn’t have the strongest season in 2023, but head coach Sam Pittman is pretty optimistic about his team’s progress in the offseason – and if he wants to keep his job, they should show it. Texas may be the Razorbacks’ strongest opponent, but Arkansas will be coming off games against Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss. That strong schedule can either make them more resilient before the Texas game or more tired. Nonetheless, Texas should be able to pull out the win.

Texas: 21

Arkansas: 7

I can already tell that this game will be very entertaining and both Texas and Arkansas will look to dominate the scoreboard. The Longhorns have a depth and versatility in their talented roster that you won’t find in the Hogs, but the Fayetteville crowd will not be so easily dismissed and will be desperate to cast doubt on Texas’ ability to beat them. This matchup should be the third road win for the Horns.

Texas: 35

Arkansas: 17
