NEW YORK (August 9, 2024) – Veteran tight end Kole Taylor has been named to the 2024 John Mackey Award Watch List, the Friends of John Mackey announced.

The award is given each year to the most outstanding college tight end. The recipient is chosen by a vote of the John Mackey Award Selection Committee.

Taylor played 13 games, including 11 starts, for WVU in 2023 after transferring from LSU. He was named to the All-Big 12 Conference Second Team after leading the Mountaineers with 35 catches for 444 yards and four touchdowns. His numbers were good enough for fifth on the school’s single-season tight end receptions list and sixth in receiving yards.

The eight Mackey Award semifinalists will be announced on Tuesday, October 29, and the finalists will be chosen on Tuesday, November 26.

The John Mackey Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association. Founded in 1997, the NCFAA presents college football’s most prestigious awards.
