Superintendent Johnnie Thomas led the tour, showing off extensive renovations to the campus at 5000 Sauk Trail. “A place that really cares about the community,” as Thomas described it, the campus now features a state-of-the-art television broadcast area, an athletic director’s office with medical facilities, a large weight room, a gymnasium with a 200-meter track and an armory for the Naval Cadet Program. Thomas emphasized the importance of community and government support in encouraging innovation in education. “The more attention and focus we can put into making sure we are funded in a supportive way and have the support of the community, the more we can implement great ideas,” he noted. “A lot of times when people constantly hear ‘no,’ it stifles creativity.” This tour highlights Rich Township High School’s ongoing efforts to improve educational facilities and expand resources available to students and the community.
