Stree 2: Box office hits day 3: Amar Kaushik’s latest entry in the Maddock Supernatural Universe, Stree 2, hit the theatres on Independence Day. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in lead roles, the film is doing well in India. According to Sacnilk.com, the film is expected to ₹131.13 Crore in the three days. According to the website, the film earned ₹8.5 crore from premieres alone, a day before the release. It made a collection of ₹51.8 crore on the opening day, which ₹31.4 crore on the first Friday, a decline of 39.38%. On Saturday, the collections picked up again, with the film estimated to ₹39.43 crore, making the total collection ₹131.13 crore nett in India. The film had a 55.72% occupancy on Saturday with the evening shows attracting the most viewers. Since the film received good reviews, it is expected to do well on Sunday as well.

About Street 2

Stree 2 is the sequel to his 2018 hit film Stree. The horror comedy sees Rajkummar and Shraddha reprise their roles. The film tells the story of the people of Chanderi who are terrorized by a decapitated creature called Sarkata, who kidnaps women. The people now have no choice but to turn to Stree for help. Stree 2 also features numerous cameo appearances by stars that were previously kept secret. Varun Dhawan reprises his role as Bhediya and can be heard in a song with Shraddha. The music of the film was composed by Sachin-Jigar, and the film score by Justin Varghese.

The film competed at the box office against John Abraham, Sharvari starrers Vedaa and Akshay Kumar, Ammy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Aditya Seal and Pragya Jaiswal starrer Khel Khel Mein.
