With the unofficial last weekend of summer just around the corner, many people want to make the most of the three-day weekend with a trip to a local lake, river or beach.
Here’s what you need to know before you leave:
KEY POINTS:
-
Not every day, but the probability of rain increases over the weekend and will be isolated on Sunday and Monday
-
The lakes and reservoirs in the region are still affected by the ongoing drought
-
The water levels of the rivers are relatively low and the associated current is slow for dinghy travel.
EARLY INSIGHTS: LABOR DAY WEEKEND FORECAST
After mostly isolated rain showers throughout Saturday, moisture will return early next week, leading to a slightly higher probability (40%) of isolated showers on Sunday and Monday.
Not everyone will be covered every day, but for those participating in the activity, isolated heavy rain and perhaps some thunder and lightning are possible. The weekend won’t be completely out of control, but you’ll have the option to escape indoors for a while if you need to dodge a few downpours.
As for temperatures, increasing cloud cover will help keep afternoon highs between 35 and 35 degrees Celsius.
