Blossoms has revealed that performing at Glastonbury is anything but glamorous.

The indie pop group played Smiths covers with Rick Astley at the world-famous festival in Somerset, England last year and sang “Spice Up Your Life” with Melanie C. of Sporty Spice in 2022.

However, the band “Honey Sweet” has admitted that you have to share the toilets with all the other guests of the program unless you are one of the headliners.

In the WIRED column of the Daily Star newspaper, frontman Tom Ogden is quoted as saying: “Backstage at Glastonbury or any other festival, unless you’re the headliner, the toilets are communal, right?”

Drummer Joe Donovan said: “And they’re portaloos, they’re not like any better toilets – sometimes they’re a little bit better, but they’re still not unreal.”

Tom added: “Oh, it’s not premium, is it? And if you weren’t there at 8:01 when they were being cleaned, they’re peppered by bloody half past nine, aren’t they?”

Meanwhile, Blossoms’ new album, “Gary,” is due out September 20 and will be produced by The Coral’s James Skelly, the band’s regular collaborator, and Jungle’s Josh-Lloyd Watson, who produced “What Can I Say After I’m Sorry?” and “Nightclub.”

28-year-old singer CMAT (Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson) also co-wrote two tracks on the album – ‘I Like Your Look’ and ‘Why Do I Give You the Worst of Me?’.

Tom said: “The essence of this record is the five of us recording live together in one room for the first time in years.

“We wanted to capture the energy that comes when five friends decide to form a band and make music together.

“We worked together more than ever on this album and, in addition to our long-time collaborator James Skelly, we brought Josh and CMAT on board.

“We rented an Airbnb on the coast of Anglesey and locked ourselves in for the writing session with Ciara. It was some of the most inspiring days we’ve ever had as a band.

“During the writing process we listened to a lot of Bowie, Blondie and Hall and Oates.”

Other standout tracks on the album include “Big Star” and “Mothers,” with Tom noting that they too were inspired by true stories: “The tracks on the album themselves are based on various stories, mostly from personal experience.

“After seeing a well-known music journalist at the Chateau Marmont during ‘Big Star’, I consider going up and introducing myself, but then shyness gets the better of me and I don’t.

“‘I Like Your Look’ is a tribute to Blondie’s ‘Rapture’ and a wink to Joan Baez’s ‘Time Rag’. The lyrics explore an ironic approach to haute couture.

“‘Mothers’ is an ode to the friendship between me and (bandmate) Joe (Donovan) and it references the fact that our mothers were friends in the ’80s.”

Blossoms support 28-year-old Tom Grennan at Gunnersbury Park on August 10th and will play festivals including Isle of Wight and TRSNMT before the band’s biggest headline gig to date at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Park on August 25th.

Since its founding in 2013, Blossoms has enjoyed great success and recognition.

Their 2016 debut album topped the album charts for two consecutive weeks and earned the band BRIT Award and Mercury Prize nominations, while 2018’s Cool Like You peaked at number 4 on the UK album charts.

Their fourth album “Ribbon Around the Bomb” from 2023 reached number 1
