TUCSON, Arizona (13 News) – The Sonoran Science Academy is honoring two of its teachers – Kelly Barrows and Abraham Reyes.
Barrows has been with the district for three years and teaches 6th through 8th grades. Reyes has been at Sonoran Science Academy-East for two years and teaches computer science.
Barrows was awarded the District Teacher of the Year Award. The award is given to an exceptional educator who demonstrates excellence in teaching, dedication to their students, and commitment to the educational community. Each year, the Sonoran Science Academy school administration selects the teacher who best inspires their students, supports their peers, and consistently goes above and beyond the expected in their role.

Reyes received the national Philippine Teaching Award for Outstanding AchievementThe Filipino Teachers Association of Arizona said the award is given to teachers in Arizona who demonstrate expertise in their field, show leadership both inside and outside the classroom, and have a positive impact on students and the community.
