Sid Wilson of the heavy metal band Slipknot was hospitalized on Friday with “severe burns.”
“My face and cheeks are burned,” the 47-year-old turntablist said during an Instagram Live posted from his hospital bed. “I had an explosion on my face.”
He then reassured his followers: “I’m fine. I’m getting better, but I have serious burns on my face and arms.”
Wilson showed his fans his injuries up close, which included singed eyebrows, a blister on his mouth and several burn marks all over his face and arms.
The DJ said doctors also checked whether he had suffered any internal injuries and took X-rays of his chest to confirm he had “not inhaled flames.”
However, his body knew he had experienced some trauma because he was shaking while holding his phone.
In a separate video shared on Instagram on Friday, Wilson provided further insight into the events.
The keyboardist said he was “out there working on the farm” he shares with girlfriend Kelly Osbourne in Iowa and was trying to stoke a campfire when it exploded.
Osbourne, who was hospitalized with Wilson, issued a stern warning via her Instagram stories on Friday: “This is why you don’t mess with burn piles.”
The “Papa Don’t Preach” singer, who was holding her and Wilson’s one-year-old son Sidney on her lap at the time, added: “He literally lit himself on fire, made everything explode. Ugh.”
Osbourne, 39, then shared a second Instagram story showing her little boy adorably playing with his toys in the hospital room while his father lay in bed recovering.
The “Osbournes” podcaster let out a deep sigh and captioned her video with a “words fail me” GIF.
However, Wilson assured his fans that he would be “fine” and said he would “do whatever it takes” to see them on tour again.
The rocker also announced later Friday that he would be taken to another facility where his burns could be better treated.
He concluded his caption with the words, “I’m going to be OK guys. Love you all.”
