The South Carolina football team held its second preseason practice game at Williams-Brice Stadium on Saturday.
The scrimmage was closed to the media, but coach Shane Beamer told reporters that the following players did not participate in the scrimmage: tight ends Reid Mikeska and Nick Elksnis, offensive lineman Jakai Moore and defensive linemen Bryan Thomas and Elijah Davis.
Beamer said none of the injuries were serious.
The Gamecocks will host Old Dominion in the season opener on August 31 (4:15 p.m. ET, SEC Network).
Beamer said there were no significant injuries during preseason training. The Gamecocks have gotten Rocket Sanders back on the field after he missed the spring with shoulder and knee injuries. Sanders missed last Saturday’s scrimmage but returned to practice the next day and for the rest of the week. Sanders is expected to be a starting running back this year.
On Aug. 11, the last practice open to the media, offensive linemen Markee Anderson and Moore, Reid Mikeska and running back Bradley Dunn worked on the sidelines with trainers and did not participate in position drills. Davis was not seen at practice and defensive back Jalewis Solomon was not in full gear.

Beamer did not elaborate on the injuries, saying all the players who missed the first practice game suffered only minor bumps and bruises.
