Shake out the good

Shake out the good

Today, Morton Salts Week’s Island Facility’s “Shaking Out the Good Stuff” spotlight proudly shines on American Legion Post 69. This group has always had much to be proud of, but on this Monday morning, there is a special sense of accomplishment at this post.

The mission of American Legion Post 69 is not much different from the mission of other American Legion posts across the country. Quite simply:

help provide services to veterans and their families who need them.

Most of the time, the missions of American Legion Post 69 go unnoticed, but this morning we have a story we wanted to share with you through the Shaking Out the Good Stuff platform.

Last week, leaders of American Legion Post 69 reached out to you and me for help. They needed money to pay the funeral expenses for a Korean War veteran who passed away earlier this month at the age of 92. Without additional funds, that veteran, Joseph Henry of New Iberia, might not have been able to be buried next to his beloved wife.

Fortunately for Mr. Henry and his family, the American Legion told people his story. And the people of Acadiana raised the money needed to cover the costs of Mr. Henry’s final burial. You can read more about that story here.

They also have great jobs for those looking to improve their current employment situation. You can earn “offshore money” and still sleep at home every night at Morton Salt. Find details of potential job openings here.
