Tottenham player ratings vs Bayern Munich

Guglielmo Vicario – 6 – He made some good saves throughout the game, but also got Spurs in trouble on more than one occasion. That’s two errors in two games against Bayern that cost Spurs two goals.

Archie Gray – 7.5 – Our first evidence that Postecoglou wants to use Gray as a backup right back in his system. Looks comfortable in the reversed positions as you would expect. Has fought really well defensively as well. Seems to be a really smart player.

Cristian Romero – 7.5 – Of course, Romero could always have given the defence more stability, but it is his passes through the lines that decide the game. With him on the pitch, Spurs seem to play much better from the back.

Mike Van den Ven – 7 – Good to see Micky back in action. The second half was a little quiet at times so he didn’t have to go full throttle as often. Looked much more solid than the makeshift options Spurs had to use at times in pre-season.

Fate Udogie – 7 – Finally a left-back! Udogie returned from injury in the second half and strengthened the team both offensively and defensively. He is slowly getting back into the game.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 7 – Played the central role in the second 45 minutes. Still coming into his stride after his late start in pre-season, but seemed much more accurate on the ball than he did at times last season.

Oliver Skipp – 6.5 – Showed nice link-up play with the likes of Gray and Kulusevski on the right. You can see why Ange would probably want to keep him – he can do so many jobs at a decent level.

Lucas Bergvall – 7.5 – A slightly worrying moment when Bergvall went down without the ball and struggled to spear anything, but in the end he was OK and able to carry on. Assisted Tottenham’s second goal with a lovely pass to Kulusevski. Doesn’t look out of place among the Spurs starters.

Dejan Kulusevski – 8.5 – This kid puts in a lot of hard work. His first goal was the perfect example of how hard work can bring a goal as he reacted quicker than anyone else and put Spurs ahead in just 30 seconds. His second goal was a real striker’s run and he fired it into the corner.

Heung-min Son – 6 – Not his best game today. He dropped back a few times to get the ball but that’s not really his strong suit. Just one of those days where he didn’t seem to get going. Ange obviously couldn’t stand watching Son play against Kane so he took him off the pitch as soon as Harry came on.

Timo Werner – 6.5 – Looked better than Sonny on the left in the first 45 minutes. Often seems to be missing the final shot or pass, but he certainly caused Bayern some problems.

Substitute:

Mikey Moore – 6.5 – He didn’t have much of the ball during his cameo, but he had some really good moments in the final third. He’s an absolute firework on the ball.

Will Lankshear – 6 – Got a nice handshake from Harry Kane on the sidelines as they both came to the bench for their 15-minute cameo.
