Scaramucci: Trump will lose because he is “boring” and “old”

Former White House communications director and financier Anthony Scaramucci weighs in on his former boss’s re-election efforts.

Scaramucci, who served just 11 days before being fired amid widespread media attention due to conflicts with other senior staff, is best known as founder and managing partner of SkyBridge Capital and co-host of the podcast “The Rest is Politics US,” in which he analyzes the twists and turns of the 2024 election campaign.

He appeared on “The Final 5” with Jim Lokay to share his insights on the 2024 presidential campaign.

Scaramucci discussed the impact of Corey Lewandowski’s return to Donald Trump’s campaign and the overall state of the Republican campaign. Trump announced Thursday that Lewandowski will remain an adviser to the campaign but will work with Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, two Republican heavyweights tasked with overseeing the re-election effort. Scaramucci hinted that there could be internal conflict among the campaign’s top strategists, comparing it to the historic Roman Triumvirate and predicting that there will be more changes to come.

“So there’s Susie Wiles, Chris LaCivita and Corey Lewandowski. So if you know classical Roman history, you know that didn’t end well for Pompeii, Crassus and Caesar. OK, so triumvirates don’t work. People end up blowing each other up. The dynamic isn’t great.”

The change could also mean a return to the successful election campaign scenario of 2016. Scaramucci – who supported Trump at the time – has admitted that even he did not believe in success. The reason? Familiar issues will play out in 2024.

“He’s running against a woman. He’s trying to play up the stereotypes of sexism with a touch of racism. He’s trying to see if that style could work in 2024. It’s a populist campaign. He’s going to drum up as much support as he can to get his voters to vote.”

He believes that while Trump’s approach could potentially be successful in mobilizing his voting base, it faces significant challenges due to a changing electorate, which includes a rise in younger voters who tend to lean Democratic. Scaramucci also expressed doubts about Trump’s ability to pull off a victory, citing the former president’s limited appeal and growing electoral fatigue with his rhetoric.

“The electorate has changed since 2016. We’ve lost over 20 million baby boomers since 2016. At the same time, Generation Z has entered the electorate with 40 million. So there’s a great mix of younger voters. And they seem to be interested in politics.”

Scaramucci’s prediction for November 5th?

“I predict he will lose because he will get boring. He will get old. He will get tired.”
