Hudson Valley residents looking for a cheap car may have just hit the jackpot.

Dutchess County government wants to get rid of vehicles that are either no longer in use or that still work but are no longer needed… and the prices couldn’t be lower. From ambulances and bulldozers to passenger cars and boats, here are some of the best bargains:

The auction, conducted by Absolute Auctions & Realty, Inc., offers an interesting look at the Hudson Valley Local Government vehicle inventory. All items are listed with a full description of their condition as well as detailed photos, such as this Chevrolet Impala with 126,000 miles, currently being offered for $450 (see below).

While there are plenty of vehicles for sale that will suit everyone from the novice driver on a budget to the aspiring demolition derby competitor (they may want to jump at the chance to pick up the Volkswagen VR6 Sport, currently listed for $180, below), there are also great deals for contractors and construction business owners.

Scrolling through the myriad of cars, vans, and SUVs, a few special vehicles stand out from the crowd, like a working forklift with a current bid of $475 and a John Deere loader listed as “working and functioning as intended” with a current bid of $9,400 (see below). There are also a few vehicles that could be described as more like toys.

Water lovers might be interested in a paddle boat that could optimistically be described as “vintage” and is currently bidding at $1, an aluminum row boat that is also listed for $1, or round paddle boats that are currently bidding at $25 (see below).
