Battle

  • Russia fired several missiles and drones at parts of northern and eastern Ukraine overnight, the Kiev military said on Sunday, adding that its defense systems destroyed most of the weapons before they could reach their targets. The attacks targeted Ukraine’s Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, the Ukrainian Air Force said on the messaging app Telegram.

  • Five civilians were killed and 12 others injured when Ukraine shelled the town of Rakitnoye in Russia’s Belgorod region, the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on Sunday. Three children were among the victims, he added.

  • Ukraine said on Sunday that two journalists were injured and a third was missing in a Russian night attack on a hotel in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk. Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk region’s government, said the journalists were British, American and Ukrainian citizens and that a search operation was underway.

  • On Saturday, Ukraine said five people were killed in a Russian attack on a residential area in the eastern Ukrainian town of Kostiantynivka near the front line in the Donetsk region.
