Rowling’s gay Harry Potter tweet

Rowling’s gay Harry Potter tweet

JK Rowling recently broke her silence on social media to tweet in response to a Harry Potter fan who asked why the character Albus Dumbledore was gay.

Rowling announced in 2007 that the headmaster of Hogwarts was gay, shortly after she published the final book in the popular series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

One Twitter follower, Ana Kocovic, is said to have tweeted: “Thank you for writing Harry Potter. I wonder why you said Dumbledore was gay because I can’t see him that way.”

She has since deleted the tweet, but Rowling’s response is still online.

“anakocovic21 Maybe because gays just look like… people?” the author tweeted.

However, the Twitter follower kept her response online, calling Rowling “an inspiration.”

“jk-rowling amazing answer… Yes you are absolutely right. Such an inspiration,” tweeted anakocovic2.

This is quite a coup for the Harry Potter fan, who, according to her Twitter page, only recently signed up to the social network.

“I’m new here and don’t know if I should make some YouTube videos :-/,” she tweeted on March 24.

But later she published another response to Rowling, suggesting a possible love match for Dumbledore in the form of the female character Minerva McGonagall, played by Maggie Smith in the films.

“jk-rowling I wish McGonagall and Dumbledore were a couple,” she tweeted.
