PARKERSBURG – Motorists will need to adjust their routes or expect delays Saturday morning as runners and walkers participate in the Parkersburg News and Sentinel half marathon and two-mile race.
“The roads are closed to ensure the safety of runners and walkers as well as motorists. The roads will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so,” said Art Smith, co-director of the race.
The Belpre Bridge closes at 7:30 a.m.
Races begin at the corner of Third and Juliana Streets, next to the entrance to the Towne Square parking garage. The wheelchair race begins at 7:50 a.m., followed by the half marathon at 8 a.m. and the two-mile run at 8:10 a.m.
At 6 a.m., the Juliana Street exit on eastbound US 50 will be blocked with barricades to block traffic into downtown.
