Rise in violent video games in Colorado – should we be worried?

Video games have changed a lot in the last 30 years. Almost two-thirds of us play video games, which plays a role in most of our lives. Video games are incredibly diverse these days. In the past, you would sit in front of the TV and be in an isolated position.

Many of us in Colorado experienced our first video games at home or in arcades.

That’s no longer the case. Video games are incredibly mobile and accessible. Video games are more deeply ingrained in our lives than most of us realize.

Colorado is increasingly interested in violent video games

Look, I’m not going to sit on my high horse and pretend that I don’t play video games that contain violence. I grew up playing games Call of Duty and am a big fan of the Red Dead Redemption Franchise. I’m curious why Colorado has such a high interest in violent video games. Cloudwards analyzed search data and found that Colorado is one of the states with the highest interest in violent video games.

Are video games becoming a problem in Colorado?

I am not a parent, so I cannot tell you which games your child should and should not play. That is your decision. However, you should observe your child’s behavior and decide for yourself whether a video game is causing behavioral problems or not.

I didn’t have a problem with video games as a kid. I played some pretty intense video games that had violence in them, and I was totally fine with that.

One of my best friends from childhood reacted completely differently.

Every child is different.

Researchers have noticed that there are cases where violent video games can lead to violent children.
