The British version of the successful reality show The traitors is launching a celebrity variant, and the show’s producers say “big names” are vying to get on board, reports The sun.

The reality series is a crime thriller set in a Scottish castle. In the American version, which was a hit on Peacock, Alan Cumming acts as game master for a group of players. Among them are secretly nefarious traitors who eliminate the others one by one.

Claudia Winkleman is the presenter of the British version and is said to be a “close friend” of Friends Alumni Courtney Coxwhom the producers hope to sign; another big name on their wish list is the celebrated comedian and The office Creator Ricky Gervais.

A source told the publication: “Behind the scenes, big names have already expressed their interest in taking part when it was announced that a new version of ‘The Traitors’ is being filmed,” adding that the BBC “want the crème de la crème of stars for the celebrity spin-off.”

The first season of the American version featured regular people as well as former reality show participants, while the second season consisted exclusively of stars from shows such as MTV’s The challenge, Survivors and the Real Housewives Franchise.

Celebrity Traitors UK Filming will begin in early 2025.
