The father-son duo won the first three races. Michel, the junior, drove Braxtons Boy (sabrina) to victory in the opening race. The gelding came out of the bag on the backstretch and fought past One Last Bet (Dean Rey) to win in 2:01.4. Richard Rey co-owns and breeds the winner, a four-year-old, with Janet Rey.

Rey’s Ur Glass (sabrina) won his first victory for the Reys in the second heat. He took the lead just before the halfway point and extended his lead to three lengths on the home straight, giving him a win in 2:08.1 minutes. Richard Rey trains and breeds the second-year stallion, who made his debut this year. Watching (He observes) gave the team a one-two-three in race three, winning the mile in 2:02.4 by a length and a half for owner Laverne Turnbull.

Army Captain Hanover (Captaintreacherous) completed the Grand Slam for Rey in the Open Pace. He fought his way to the lead in the third quarter, overpowered the leader on the final turn and finished five lengths clear in 1:59.1. It was his 11th win of the year and his fifth in seven starts since moving to Manitoba and the stables of Richard Rey. Turnbull owns the eight-year-old gelding.
