Review of the Mini Chimi Bang Bangs from Jack In The Box: Are they any good?

Review of the Mini Chimi Bang Bangs from Jack In The Box: Are they any good?

The Deadpool and Wolverine The marketing blitz continues! Always sunny in Philadelphia Ties, frozen pizza, sneakers, popcorn buckets – wherever you look, it is Deadpool and Wolverine. Now comes the duo for our fast food! Jack in the Box just released the ridiculously named Sauced & Loaded Mini Chimi Bang Bangs, a side dish of chimichangas covered in cheese and loaded with even more cheese because Deadpool is canonically a huge chimichanga nerd.

This begs the question: How the hell could Taco Bell make such a mistake?

While this seems like a dish tailor-made for T-Bell, it’s a little more suited to Jack in the Box’s chaotic side menu. This is a fast-food chain that has tacos, spring rolls, teriyaki bowls, and stuffed jalapeños on the menu, so with sauce and lots of chimichangas? Sure…why the hell not?

But is this a worthy side dish to your meal? We found out you don’t need the Sauced & Loaded Mini Chimi Bang Bangs. Here’s the verdict.

Thoughts and tasting notes:

The Sauced & Loaded Mini Chimi Bang Bangs win the award for most exhausting fast food name ever. Typing the full name gives me carpal tunnel syndrome, so I’m waiting for your damages check in the mail, Jack! Anyway, the *deep breath* Sauced & Loaded Mini Chimi Bang Bangs consist of shredded chicken, corn, black beans, and cheddar cheese filling in three mini flour tortillas, deep fried, and topped with cheddar cheese sauce, taco sauce, and lettuce.

Visually, this dish is a mess. Despite all the cheese and sauce smeared on top, the shell remains nice and crispy (and that’s after a 15-minute drive from the drive-thru to my apartment) and offers a nice crunch alongside salty cheese notes, earthy herb tones, and a zesty aftertaste thanks to the taco sauce.

It’s the same taco sauce used for JiB’s crispy tacos, but in a much larger dose – which really brings out the mild chili notes.

The weakest aspects of this dish are the chicken, which is essentially flavorless, and the odd strands of lettuce sprinkled on top. But as weak as these elements are, they don’t really hurt the dish.

These (last) Sauced and Loaded Mini Chimi Bang Bangs are tasty and a full serving is easy to consume, especially after a few drinks or a few hits from your vape pen, which, in case you don’t know, is the essential way to enjoy Jack in the Box’s food. As much as I like these, they feel a little insubstantial. They are not a Reason to go to Jack in the Box, but they are a nice addition to any order.

The conclusion:

If you love Jack in the Box’s crispy tacos, this dish is an upscale version of them and worth adding to your usual order.
