The Inveraray & District Pipe Band became Grade 1 World Champions for the third time on 17 August 2024, with St Laurence O’Toole winning the Grade 1 percussion title. Today’s Class 1 result also crowns Inveraray & District Champion of Champions for Drums and overall for 2024.

Leading up to the World Championships, the four majors in 2024 were won by St Laurence O’Toole (UK Championship), Peoples Ford Boghall & Bathgate (British), Inveraray & District (Scottish) and Field Marshal Montgomery (European) and these four bands all but dominated the top four spots at the World Championships in the two events on Friday and the two on Saturday. But the inclusion of Simon Fraser University negated the dominance of the top four as SFU had strong results on Friday to finish third overall. The other band challenging the top four was Police Scotland Fife, led by Pipe Major David Wilton, as they finished fourth in both the MSR and Medley on Saturday, giving them sixth place overall.
