CHINESE NATIONAL SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

Nothing too crazy happened on the final night of action at the 2024 Chinese National Summer Championships.

Without Olympic medalists Zhang Yufei in the water it was Zhou Xuchi who won gold in the women’s 100-meter butterfly. Zhou clocked a time of 59.74 to secure first place.

For men it was Shen Jiahao who made it to gold and scored 52.08 as the winner. That is equal to Lin Lejun as the ninth fastest 100-meter butterfly in Chinese history.

Liu Wu achieved a time of 48.48, making him the best runner in the men’s 100-meter freestyle, setting a new personal best and taking the top spot on the podium.

At this event, Liu set his fastest time in this year’s Olympic qualifying heats so far, 48.54 seconds. Liu beat that time by 0.06 seconds, making him China’s ninth fastest runner of all time.

Other winners

• The men’s 1500 m freestyle saw Zhang Zhongxin Be the first to cross the finish line and win the gold medal with a time of 15:21.54.
• Yang Wenwen achieved a time of 55.36 and won the gold medal in the women’s 100 m freestyle.
• Wang Gukailai achieved a result of 1:59.64 and thus stood at the top of the winner’s podium in the men’s 200 m backstroke.
• You Jingjing She was the fastest competitor in the women’s 200 m backstroke with a time of 2:11.28.
