Rescue workers ask for help to save puppy who needs life-saving surgery

A rescue operation from Oakhurst is asking for help.

This is because a puppy that the rescue center took in now needs surgery.

Amy Granados, founder of House of Muddy Paws, says her youngest puppy needs surgery.

If she doesn’t get this surgery, we will have to humanely euthanize her,” she said. “There are several vertebrae fused in the middle of her spine, which shortens her height.”

“Tater Tot” is a 6-month-old poodle mix who was born with short spine syndrome.

Usually the disease is more noticeable on a dog’s neck, but in her case the situation is a little different.

“Her pelvic bone is also kind of twisted, so her legs are wobbly,” Granados said.

This makes it difficult for them to do normal things.

“If dogs with this problem are not neutered, they have painful bladder infections and a short life,” she said.

Granados said the surgery would cost over $6,000, and the only vet she found willing to take on the challenge was in Sacramento.

“This girl is just full of light. Everyone who meets her loves her,” she said. “She deserves a chance.”

Granados said this operation would mean life or death for Tater Tot.

“Life changing. It would save her life,” she said.

If you would like to help save Tater Tot’s life, you can donate to House of Muddy Paw’s GoFundMe campaign.
