Congressman Mike Kelly provides more information on a task force he is leading to find out what happened the day of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump on July 13. Kelly has several questions he wants answered, including who decided to come to the Butler Farm Show Grounds, how the rally was planned in advance and why there were problems with communication.

“I want to know about the site selection, the entire preparation time, what concerns there were and whether there was a communication problem. We should have known that in advance,” Kelly told our newsroom.

The 13-member task force consists of seven Republicans and six Democrats. Kelly said the group is interested in finding answers and does not want to use the event to “make a spectacle out of it.”

Kelly also wants to know why the rally began in the first place and whether the suspect was discovered before the former president took the stage.

“If you weren’t sure the place was safe, why was former President Donald Trump allowed on that platform? After all, it wasn’t just the president who was in danger, so was the crowd.”
