MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) – Each year, tens of thousands of people are diagnosed with cancer and thousands die from the disease. That’s why the American Cancer Society recognizes these patients each year with the Relay for Life.

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of the Quad Cities will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 5 to 10 p.m. at Christ the King Church Believers Together Center, 3209 60th Street in Moline. The purpose of the event is to honor survivors and remember those who have died from cancer.

The evening’s program includes:

  • Survivor Dinner from 5-6pm (reservation required)
  • Opening ceremony at 6 p.m.
  • The Luminary Ceremony begins at approximately 8:45 p.m.

Luminarias are available for $10 per bag and baskets will be raffled off to raise additional funds for the organization.

Funds raised annually by more than 250,000 Relay participants nationwide benefit the American Cancer Society by funding and conducting groundbreaking research, educating and advocating for cancer patients and their families, and providing critical services throughout the cancer journey.
