Reimet’s second-half goal leads to the Hawks’ 1-0 win over Temple

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Summer Rhyme scored with just under 17 minutes left to help the Monmouth University women’s soccer team to a 1-0 win at Temple University in its season opener on Thursday night.

The Hawks applied pressure early in the game but were unable to convert. Tasmin Bynoe made six saves for Temple in the first 45 minutes of the game, keeping Monmouth from scoring.

The two teams went into the break with a 0-0 tie.

The Hawks continued to apply pressure early in the second half, with Bynoe having to stop four shots in the first ten minutes of the period to keep the game at 0-0.

Monmouth finally broke free in the 74th minute. Reimet grabbed a loose ball in the penalty area and pushed it into the bottom left corner of the net to make it 1-0.

Cassie Coster made a solid save in the 86th minute to keep Temple from scoring and Monmouth sealed the 1-0 victory.

– Second year student Emily De Almeida earned the first start of her career.

Number crunching
– Monmouth had a commanding 24-6 shot lead in the contest.
– The Hawks took 11 of the game’s 13 corner kicks.
Cassie Coster finished with four saves to earn her first win of the year and the 25th of her Monmouth career. Tasmin Bynoe made 14 saves for Temple.
