Production of “My Life With The Walter Boys” begins with season 2

The cast of Netflix’s My life with the Walter Boys is back on set as production on season two has officially begun in Calgary, Canada.

Showrunner Melanie Halsall is back to steer the ship for the second installment, and Ed Glauser will once again executive produce the series. Jason Priestley, who directed two episodes in the first season, will return to direct several episodes and also serve as a producer this season.

Becky Hartman Edwards is also joining as an executive producer for Season 2, likely as an experienced hand leading the crew into uncharted territory, as there is no source material for this second season. She is a producer and writer known for Firefly Lane, The Bold Type, Switched at Birth, Parenthood and more.

Author Ali Novak had previously announced that she was writing a sequel to the bestselling novel, but assured that “one of the pieces of content I’m currently writing will be in the second season.”

Returning series stars include Nikki Rodriguez, Sarah Rafferty, Marc Blucas, Noah LaLonde, Ashby Gentry, Connor Stanhope, Johnny Link, Corey Fogelmanis and Jaylan Evans.

Zoë Soul has been listed as recurring for season 2, meaning she will appear in fewer episodes. It’s unclear what this might mean for the story, as her character Hayley married the eldest Walter brother (Johnny Link) in the season 1 finale.

Other returning cast members for the second season include Isaac Arellanes, Myles Perez, Alex Quijano, Ashley Tavares, Dean Petriw, Alix West Lefler, Lennix James, Alisha Newton, Ellie O’Brien, Kolton Stewart, Mya Lowe, Gabrielle Jacinto, Jesse Lipscombe and Nathaniel Arcand.

Season 1 of My life with the Walter Boys was a real hit for Netflix, staying on the global top 10 list for eight weeks. The series reached the top 10 in 88 countries. The series was renewed within 10 days of the first season’s release date.

The first season follows 15-year-old Manhattanite Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) after she loses her family in a tragic accident. Jackie leaves her privileged and respectable life in New York behind and moves to rural Colorado to live with her mother’s best friend’s family. The Walters welcome her with open arms, but Jackie soon has to confront her growing feelings for two very different Walter brothers.

The series also mixed things up in the first season by deviating from the book when it came to Jackie, as she flew to New York at the end of episode 10 instead of staying in Silver Falls. Halsall revealed some of her preliminary thoughts on season 2 to Deadline when the series was renewed.
