GREENVILLE — Didn’t get a letter from Hogwarts this year? (Or last year, or last year, or… you know what, you get the idea.)

Don’t worry, honey, there’s plenty of wizard magic to be had right here in Greenville with the Wizards’ Chamber opening the Press Room Pop-Up on Wednesday, August 28, at the AC Hotel in Greenville.

You can visit the Forbidden Forest and venture into the enchanted woods, or stay in the safety of the Wizard’s Chamber and cheer on your house team.

Whether you’re a Harry Potter know-it-all or have never picked up a Harry Potter book and it all seems a bit like a foreign language to you, you can still enjoy a magically inspired evening at the pop-up in downtown Greenville.

The house flags of Wizard Chambers

The Wizard Chambers, a pop-up bar by The Press Room at the AC Hotel, features impressive decorations including candles hanging from the ceiling, Hogwarts house flags and even moving portraits.

The Press Room, a speakeasy bar that honors Greenville’s history and the Greenville News, is known for its seasonal pop-up bar concepts. The bar was most recently decorated as Cheshire’s Hideaway, complete with an Alice in Wonderland-inspired drink and food menu.

This is the third pop-up event the bar has hosted, and William Ruwer, food and beverage director, said the magical theme moves the Greenville bar from summer to fall.

The bar will be ready in about four to five days, Ruwer said. The old theme will be removed on August 21, and new events with the new wizard setup will take place on August 26.

“Taking everything down is much quicker than putting it up,” said Ruwer. “It took a long time to put the candles on the ceiling.”

Golden Snitch Cake

The Wizard Chambers pop-up features a themed menu with dishes like the Golden Snitch, a vanilla raspberry cake with Pop Rocks.

Ruwer also said that most of the decorations will be reused and repurposed for the various pop-ups and that the furniture will remain largely the same.

But now, as September 1st approaches and the witches and wizards of the world head off to Hogwarts, the rest of us (at least those over 21) can enjoy the magic at the latest seasonal pop-up.

The Wizard’s Chamber serves Harry Potter-inspired cocktails such as Liquid Luck, Golden Snitches Get Stitches and Butter than Beer. And you can put your taste buds to the test with themed dishes such as Dragon’s Meat Tartare made with Wagyu beef, cured egg yolk and focaccia, or the adventurous Golden Snitch pastry with vanilla, raspberry and crackers.
