Preparations for the Twin Falls County Fair are underway

FILER, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Fair season makes its next stop in Twin Falls this week, bringing with it food, shows and rides.

“The gates to the fairgrounds open at 7 a.m.,” said manager Jon Pitz. “The livestock shows start around 10 a.m. tomorrow. The carnival opens around 3 p.m.”

Although it may not look like it, the Twin Falls County Fair is preparing for thousands of people to fill the fairgrounds starting Wednesday.

A big part of the fun is the rides.

“We conduct daily inspections to ensure your safety,” said carnival director Brandon Peatree. “That’s the most important thing for us.”

Peatree said to ensure the safety of all 35 rides, teams will inspect everything during construction and even afterward.

“We have another inspector here who goes through everything and checks it, and we also check it ourselves.”

Not only do they check the equipment, they also monitor the weather and look out for storms, wind or lightning that could prevent certain rides from being used.

But it’s not just about the fun rides. Seven different food vendors will be on site selling funnel cakes, cotton candy and more.

Jon Pitz has run the fair for more than two decades. He said it’s about more than just food and rides. There are also shows and rodeos throughout the week.

“We have a junior rodeo tomorrow night; the open stage will be running starting at noon tomorrow and the food station will be open until 10 a.m.,” Pitz said.
