Preparations for Aggie football underway before Notre Dame game

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – In just over a week, Texas A&M’s football season begins.

Thousands of out-of-town visitors are expected in the Bryan-College Station area, meaning preparations are already underway.

Texas A&M University police say they develop a game day security plan months in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Patrolman Robert Leseth of the University Police Department says they are bringing in multiple law enforcement agencies to ensure safety on campus.

“We are reaching out to a significant number of our law enforcement partners,” Leseth said. “That includes the Bryan police department, College Station police department, Blinn police department, Brazos County Sheriff’s Office, FBI and ATF.”

Preparations for the Aggie football season are underway

Not only are the police preparing for the game, but the hotels are already fully booked and ready for the influx of visitors making their way to Aggieland.

The Hilton College Station & Conference Center will be at maximum capacity next weekend.

Hilton general manager Marissa Selby says they are fully booked for the first Aggie game weekend in over two months.

Selby says the number of calls requesting room bookings on home game weekends has increased by 50 percent in the last two weeks.

To accommodate the rush of visitors on game weekends, the Hilton hosts a watch party for its guests.

“We’re hosting our first watch party for the Notre Dame game at the Reveille rooftop bar,” Selby said. “We’ll have a buffet, drink specials and activities, and that’s something we’re planning for the entire football season.”

The Hilton says they are also fully booked for the games against LSU and Texas and expect the same for the other home weekends.
