(Life News) After the Democratic National Convention ended, a pro-life pregnancy center in Chicago was vandalized. Aid to Women is a nonprofit pro-life organization founded in 1978 that operates two maternity homes and five pregnancy centers in the Chicago area. Early Friday morning, one of the Chicago centers was splattered with red paint that resembled blood. The doors were cemented over and the vandals spray-painted the words “fake clinics” and “The dead babies are in Gaza” near the center’s entrance. Due to the vandalism, Aid to Women had to cancel Friday appointments with women seeking help.

It was a fitting end to a week in which Democrats repeatedly demonstrated their full and uncompromising support for legal abortion. Planned Parenthood set up a mobile clinic near the convention grounds to offer free abortions and vasectomies. According to media reports, eight women tragically had to undergo chemical abortions at this facility. In addition, several congressional speakers spoke openly about their experiences with abortion. Finally, vice presidential candidate Tim Walz proudly mentioned in his acceptance speech that as governor of Minnesota he had signed laws supporting legal abortion.

Interestingly, Democrats used to be much more moderate in their rhetoric on issues of the sanctity of life. At the 2016 convention, the Democratic Party first called for the repeal of the Hyde Amendment. The 2020 platform was the first time in recent history that the Democratic Party did not include language on “reducing the need for abortion.” This year, however, there was no moderation and no attempt to appeal to voters who have concerns about abortion.

According to CatholicVote.org, since the leak of the Dobbs Decision in May 2022. The FACE Act, signed into law by President Clinton in 1994, was designed to protect churches and pro-life pregnancy centers. However, the vast majority of those charged under the FACE Act were pro-life activists engaging in civil disobedience. Given that the Justice Department under the Biden administration has largely ignored previous attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers, it is unlikely that it will prioritize this latest act of vandalism.
