Potters sweep Bellaire in two sets | News, Sports, Jobs

EAST LIVERPOOL –East Liverpool defeated Bellaire 25-13, 25-1 and 25-12 in volleyball action Thursday at Potter Fieldhouse.

For the Potters (1-1), Kamryn Yanni had four aces and 34 assists. Ayla Brown had six kills and two aces. Kenzie Headley had three aces, nine kills and three blocks. Cate Davis had two kills and two assists. Ava Green added 13 kills and two aces. Addison Rudibaugh had six kills and Kendra LAcey had two aces and one assist.

East Liverpool won the jayvee portion 25-17, 25-16. Ella Gunning had 13 assists. Hailey Board added nine aces. Daminica Deshazier had five kills while Addie Jones had four kills.

East Liverpool is in Girard on Saturday.

Union Local 3,

Beaver Local 0

CALCUTTA – Union Local defeated Beaver Local 25-22, 28-26 and 25-20 on Thursday.

Adison Ketchum led the Beavers with seven kills, while Aleia Evanko added four kills, 12 assists and 10 digs. Bria Boyd added 15 assists and Jocelyn Pomeroy made an impact with 10 kills and six digs. Karsyn Bowyer shored up the defense with 14 digs and Lily Schrieber added four kills, three aces and two digs. Eva McKnight also added five kills.

Beaver Local won the jayvee match 25-4, 25-21. Addie Thurik had five kills, nine assists and three aces. Calleigh Eells had six kills and Taylor Pease added assists and three aces.

Beaver Local hosts Bellaire on Monday.

Freshmen from Beaver

Beaver Local’s freshman volleyball team split two away games this week.

The Beavers lost to Crestview 28-26, 17-25 and 25-22. Madison Poppelriter had four kills and seven digs. Sophia Gibson had nine kills and Leah Schrieber had 15 assists and five digs for the Beavers.

For Crestview, Lainey Milhoan had five kills, while Alivia Shetler had four kills and six digs. Kelcey Houp had seven assists, three aces and 11 points.

Beaver Local beat Southern 26-24 and 25-22 on Monday. The Beavers’ top players were Madison Poppelriter with eight aces and four kills, Calleigh Eells with three aces, four kills and ten assists and Ella Cochran with five kills.

FOOTBALL

Beaver Local Group 11,

East Liverpool 1

CALCUTTA – The Beaver Local girls soccer team was in top form, defeating East Liverpool 11-1 at Beaver Local on Thursday.

Peyton Dunn led the Beavers, scoring five goals, including the first after just 33 seconds, and adding an assist. Emily Saphore added a goal and two assists, while Ally Wright, Riley Springer, Lainie Bock and Rylee Thomas each had a goal and an assist. Addie Green also found the back of the net and Charlee Allison added an assist. Goalie Sophia Smith saved three shots to secure the win.

The only goal for East Liverpool was scored by Annabel Fitch.

Beaver Local (2-0) is at Oak Glen on Tuesday.

Beaver Local won the jayvee game 1-0. Ralyn Gilson scored a goal for Beaver.

Steubenville 8,

East Liverpool 0

STEUBENVILLE – The Steubenville boys soccer team defeated East Liverpool 8-0 on Thursday.

East Liverpool is 0-3 and hosts Oak Glen on Saturday.

Oak Gorge 1

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. – Beaver Local scored six goals in the first half to earn a commanding 9-1 victory over Oak Glen in boys soccer on Thursday.

Beaver Local is 3-0 and hosts Steubenville on Tuesday.

Brayden Price led the Beavers in scoring with three goals. Ethan Wood and Kaleb Mays each scored two goals, while Josh Eisenhart and Landon Wheatley each scored one. Kaleb Mays had two assists. Wood, Eisenhart and Price each had one assist. Hunter Warrick saved two shots in goal.

GOLF

EAOC Quad

GUILFORD LAKE – Columbiana’s boys golf team outperformed the competition in an Eastern Ohio Athletic Conference foursome against Southern Local, Lisbon and Leetonia on Thursday at Twin Springs Golf Course.

Columbiana achieved a low team score of 160.

Blake Unger led Columbiana with an impressive 39, followed by David Masters and Nick Klindworth, who both scored 40. Trenton Hall added 41.

Lisbon finished second with a team score of 200, led by Marshall Hall with 44. Brady Chamberlin added 51, Logan Sturgeon shot 52 and Deven Fox contributed 53.

Southern Local finished third with 206. Aiden Andrenok led with 47, followed by Logan Howell with 48, Wyatt Bach with 52 and Trevor Groff with 59.

Leetonia scored 236 points, led by Evan Rosko with 49. Jeremiah Falk scored 57 points and Christian Kelley scored 62 points. Chase Bondi did not score any points.

Beaver Local 152, Oak Glen 183

CALCUTTA – The Beaver Local boys golf team earned a 152-183 win over Oak Glen on Thursday at Beaver Meadows.

For the Beavers, Owen Hill had a 34, Britton Hickman 37, Braxton Hickman 38, Andre Wiegand 43 and Mikey Druscehl 43.

Marleah Lough led Oak Glen with 42.

Beaver Local is 7-1 and will play in the second leg of the Buckeye 8 tournament on Monday at Steubenville Country Club.

Edison 203, Beaver Local 216

EAST LIVERPOOL – Edison defeated the Beaver Local girls golf team 203-216 at East Liverpool Country Club on Thursday.

Bella Evans had a 44 for the Wildcats.
