Porsche celebrates 50 years of the 911 Turbo

Porsche celebrates 50 years of the 911 Turbo

Few luxury cars are as instantly recognizable as the Porsche 911. While other luxury sports cars rely on sleek diagonals in their design, the 911 relies on curves and waves; it’s a remarkably consistent and iconic design. Plus, it’s one that’s been present in the automotive world for decades. To celebrate the model’s enduring performance, Porsche is celebrating 50 years of the 911 Turbo with a commemorative edition.

In fact, you could make two commemorative editions out of it, depending on how you keep track. The 911 Turbo 50 Years – of which 1,974 examples will be offered for sale worldwide – is based on the 2025 911 Turbo S and features some design elements that honor the 911 Turbo’s history. These include decor inspired by the Porsche 911 RSR Turbo, a predecessor to the 1974 911 Turbo, and a badge celebrating the car’s 50th anniversary. The tartan upholstery also recalls the model’s early days. The anniversary edition costs $261,100 plus $1,995 delivery fees.

There’s also a Heritage Edition, which primarily uses Aventurine Green Metallic and includes numeral and Porsche logo stickers – although Porsche also notes in its announcement that buyers can also forgo some or all of the stickers. The Heritage Edition’s wheels also nod to another anniversary, in this case the 1964 Porsche crest.

Porsche is adding another attractive component to the 50th Anniversary Edition of the 911 Turbo: a watch reserved for buyers. As one might expect, the watch takes on some of the car’s design cues, including leather made from the same material as the seats and judicious use of the automaker’s Turbonite paint. It’s an attractive addition to another impressive piece of engineering.
